Negative Nelly

Negative Nellys

We all have insecurities. We all have bad days.

I'm not saying you can't complain ever; just don't make it a habit, especially on social media. This is not about those occasional lapses of happiness. Everyone gets hurt or frustrated and needs to vent. Or seek some comfort from our fellow authors, who understand the struggle. We support each other, that is the beauty of social media.

However, I have seen some people that constantly complain about their writing, their fans, their sales, or lack-there-of. This is for the people that daily, even hourly- post negative rants.

Sure people will give advice and encouragement a few times, but if it continues - they will unfollow, block, or unfriend you.

Now you have no support and no sales what-so-ever.

I say if you are unhappy with the process, stop trying to self-publish and get your synopsis ready. Start contacting reputable publishers and agents.  Reach higher so you are not out there doing it all on your own. If that doesn't appeal to you either, then get a new hobby.

Or pick yourself up read some inspirational quotes, Tweet #Iamwriting and get your butt in gear. No one can write for you, and no one will buy your books if you are a 'wendy-whiner.'

Here's an uplifting way to start your day. Now I am off to finish my novel.
Happy writing folks. Theresa

– Ray Bradbury

Writing is its own reward.

What we think, we become. Buddha

If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door. Milton Berle

Believe you can, and you're halfway there. Theodore Roosevelt

If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride - and never quit, you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards. Paul Bryant
